Fancy a large communal back garden?
TV company Silver River (producers of BBC2's the Big Allotment Challenge) are looking for a group of neighbours in Hanover to transform their own private gardens into communal space.
Residents will work together to create a garden that none of them ever could dream of owning individually, and, with the help of experts and funding (and legal issues covered), transform their small plots into inviting larger space. If your street/cluster of houses are interested in taking part, please contact Victoria (an ex-Hanover resident) on 0206 307 2734 or email Victoria.Howarth@silverriver.tv for info.
What we do... We promote sustainable living locally by putting on fun and educational community events and activities. We bring people together in the community, and enable practical steps towards more sustainable living. We have interesting groups, always welcome new members to join in, or support them in taking their ideas forward.
The story of how we began...
A small group of friends put on a film showing of the Age of Stupid at the Hanover Community Center in the cold cold winter of 2009. After the showing there was such a morose and urgent feeling that we needed to ‘do something’ about the issues that the world was facing over climate change. With this momentum pushing us forward we decided to meet up again and start doing something together as a community. HASL was formed. Since then we have celebrated our 1 year birthday after a blooming year of events and activity. Our supporters continue to grow!
